Dr. Jonathan Ng

Dr. Jonathan Ng is the Vocal Music Faculty and the Director of Chorale and College Singers at Pima Community College. Dr Ng also is the founder and conductor of the Arizona Choral Society. In May 2007, he made his Carnegie Hall debut conducting Vivaldi’s Gloria accompanied by the New England Symphonic Ensemble. He received his Doctorate in Conducting with minors in Vocal Performance & Pedagogy and Music History & Literature from Indiana University Jacob’s School of Music. He received his Master Degree in Conducting and Church Music from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ.

He has appeared as an orchestral and choral conductor for various groups throughout the States.  Originally from Hong Kong, he now resides in Tucson and has appeared as tenor soloist in various oratorios and operas throughout Europe, the United States and Hong Kong.  In 2008, Dr. Ng made his operatic debut in Italy at Magnani Opera Theater, Fidenza, Italy; Verdi Theater, Busseto, Italy; and the Castle of Fontanellato.  He sang three roles: Monostatos, Priest and Armor Man from Die Zauberflote, and Goro from Madam Butterfly.  He is also the founder and a member of Arcadia Chamber Artists and Cantores, male quintet a cappella ensemble.  His scholarly book reviews have been published in the American Choral Director Association’s Choral Journal.
